Located in the Munising courthouse building, the advocate is on call to the Alger County law enforcement agencies and Prosecutor’s office 24 hours per day 7 days a week. Services include housing assistance, counseling, advocacy, court support, safety planning and assistance with victim impact statements. Educational presentations are also provided.

Activities: Immediate crisis counseling and protection, educational services regarding the cycle of violence, safety planning for adults and children,  information and referral to other complimentary community based services that women and children can access, advocacy services designed to provide court support, navigating the justice system and accessing other services. Counseling services for youth and adults are offered for residents in both group and individual settings. 

Service Outputs: In the last fiscal year the office served 27 adult clients, 21 child clients and fielded 493 crisis/information calls. Volunteers provided 4,032 hours of service in Alger County.
